Since ~duskino's birthday is coming up, I figured I'd draw her something because she's just that awesome. (I haven't done much Detective Conan fan art recently, so I'm just brushing up on how to draw some of the characters.) It's Haibara, one of Duski's favorite characters, and of course, the obligatory Hakuba (AKA "Steve"). Both of them are half Japanese, and both of them have a lot in common, though they haven't interacted much in the series at all.
Drawing Haibara was fun, especially the surprised expression on her face. She's stoic in a lot of the scenes I've seen her in, so it's nice to see something new. (I guess she doesn't get along with birds, either.) Hakuba was much more complicated to pose, but I made him kneel down slightly so he'd be at eye level with Haibara. I know his neck is too thin, but I really don't want to redo the lineart. I did make his neck shorter so it wouldn't look elongated and wobbly. I didn't have a reference to drawing Watson, so I just drew a bird. It could be Watson, yet at the same time, it could not be Watson, but it really depends on what you perceive. Haibara and Hakuba were drawn separately, until when I finally put them together for the finishing touch. Haibara was also flipped horizontally so she would face Hakuba. I'm so proud of how the drawing came out in the end, especially the background, which I absolutely am uncreative with. It wasn't necessarily March 26 when I finished coloring the CG (in fact, it was March 15), but of course I am very impatient and couldn't wait until the 26th to give this picture to Duski. Haibara, Hakuba, and Watson are © to TV Tokyo, Aoyama Gosho, etc. Dotted screentone for the background is from ~screentones. |

In the teeth of these stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here.
